    • Harry Latham, who founded Miss Millie’s Fried Chicken in 1988 – and Ray Allen open the first Kentucky Fried Chicken store outside North America.
  • 1970
    • Ray and Harry form a joint venture with the KFC US company to grow the KFC GB business.
  • 1973
    • With the 100th UK company store about to be opened, Harry and Ray sell the UK company to KFC in America.
    • Harry becomes Managing Director of the KFC GB.
    • Finger Lickin’ Chicken is created to open KFC stores in Bristol and South Wales
  • 1975 - 1977
    • Harry appointed Vice President of all KFC food operations in Europe.
    • With the KFC UK stores approaching 400, Harry steps down as from KFC GB & Europe to concentrate on the Finger Lickin’ Chicken franchise in the south west, which he now owns.
  • 1980
    • Colonel Sanders, founder of KFC, dies aged 90. Harry and members of family attend funeral in Kentucky.
    • Mildred is pictured on the right of the photo with her sister Margaret at the Colonel’s grave.
  • 1982
    • Harry’s daughter Ann Walker becomes MD of Finger Lickin’ Chicken. Harry becomes Chairman
    • Ann is pictured with Harry (left) and Pete Harman – the first US KFC franchisee.

    • With KFC increasingly preferring to focus on drive through and High Street stores, Harry and family decide to leave KFC and create a new brand for the 9 stores in Bristol and the South West — Miss Millie’s Country Fried Chicken, named in honour of Mildred, one of the two daughters of Colonel Sanders.

    • New branding, logos, menus, packaging and shop fronts unveiled.
    • New Miss Millie’s fried chicken recipe introduced using coating ingredients developed by and sourced from Harland Sanders — grandson of Colonel Sanders – in Kentucky.

    • Miss Millie’s launches annual Good Neighbours Awards scheme to reward Bristol and North Somerset based organisations and projects that actively contribute to their local community.

    • Miss Millie’s now being run by Harry’s four daughters – left to right, Kerry Balding, Kate Ostrowski, Ann Walker and Sheila Wilson.
  • 1995
    • Mildred Sanders visits UK again, tours stores and presents prize to winner of the Good Neighbour Awards competition.

    • Miss Millie’s opens new store in Cowbridge Road East, Cardiff.

    • 20th anniversary of opening of Miss Millie’s Fried Chicken.

    • Mildred Sanders dies in Kentucky, USA.
